What Proportion of Weather Stations Show Warming?

The HCLIM database contains the original meteorological records of hundreds of weather stations based in 118 countries around the world with some of the records going back into the 19th century.

We have trawled these records to find all stations that had complete records of annual average temperatures through the 1980s (actually 1981-1990) and through the 2010s (actually 2011-2020). We then compared the average 1980s temperatures and average 2010s temperatures to see if each location had warmed or cooled. The conclusion was unequivocal – out of 342 weather stations that allowed this comparison, only 13 showed cooling.

So, 3.7% of stations showed cooling whilst 96.3% of sites warmed.
